Islam (Arabic: Ø§Ù„Ø¥Ø³Ù„Ø§Ù…; al-'islÄm (helpÂ·info)) is a monotheistic religion based upon the Qur'an, its principal scripture. Islam's followers, known as Muslims, believe God (Arabic: AllÄh) revealed the Qur'an to Muhammad and that Muhammad is God's final prophet (see: Prophets of Islam). The majority of Muslims see the actions and teachings of Muhammad, as related in the Sunnah and Hadith, to be indispensable tools for interpreting the Qur'an.
